Maintenance or cleaning activities reported in a Declaration of Works must be registered through CIaO. The contractor carrying out the work, whether maintenance, cleaning or other activities covered by Article 30bis legislation on work involving immovable property, is responsible for organising and monitoring the registration system.
- ORGANISATION:
➔ The contractor must make the registration system available to its cleaning subcontractors. It may agree with the subcontractor on the organisation of an equivalent registration system.
➔ The contractor is jointly responsible for the delivery, installation and proper functioning of the registration device at the workplace. It should make clear, preferably written, arrangements with its subcontractors and its own cleaning staff.
➔ A contractor that uses a self-employed person for maintenance or cleaning activities must check whether that person has a means of registration compatible with the registration device at the workplace. If not, the contractor must provide a means of registration, or the contractor and the self-employed person must make contractual arrangements regarding how the self-employed person will register.
- MONITORING:
➔ Every contractor must also ensure that the data relating to its company are actually and correctly registered and transmitted to the database.
➔ The contractor must also take measures to ensure that the cleaning subcontractor correctly registers and transmits the ‘Check IN’ and ‘Check OUT’ data to the database.
➔ A contractor with staff carrying out maintenance or cleaning activities is responsible for the registration of the start and end of its staff’s cleaning activities, as well as their breaks. The contractor should therefore make clear arrangements with its staff regarding attendance registration.
➔ A contractor that personally carries out maintenance or cleaning activities must also register correctly (Article 34, third paragraph).
